Data Centers

Data centres cannot tolerate a single second of downtime. Cunmi supplies containerised and indoor generator sets engineered for N+1 and 2N topology, with fast load acceptance and full paralleling control.

The Challenge

Data Centers power requirements

Hyperscale and colocation operators specify diesel standby power because it is the only technology that delivers full rated load within 10 seconds and sustains it indefinitely. Our data-centre packages are designed around that requirement: generous alternator sizing, class G3 load acceptance and redundancy at every level.

Each Cunmi data-centre project starts with a load profile study. We then model step-load response, transient deviation and harmonic content so that the specified set matches the UPS and chiller starting currents on site — not just the nameplate figure.

Solution Highlights

What makes the difference in this application

Class G3 load acceptance

Accepts 70 % of rated load in a single step and recovers within ISO 8528 limits.

N+1 and 2N topology

Parallel-capable controllers with automatic synchronising, load sharing and bus-tie logic.

Continuous monitoring

Remote SCADA integration via Modbus TCP, SNMP or BACnet to your BMS.

Rapid deployment

Containerised packages arrive factory-tested and ready for cable termination.

How projects are delivered

From load schedule to commissioning in data centers

The same three stages run on every order, whatever the configuration: engineering before the quotation, a documented load test before packing, and support after the set is on site.

Engineering and sizing
Step 01

Engineering and sizing

Load schedule, starting currents, ambient and altitude derating are worked through before a rating is proposed — the alternator is sized for the largest step, not the average.

Factory build and load test
Step 02

Factory build and load test

Assembly, wiring and paint in one works, then a four-point load bank run at 25 / 50 / 75 / 100 % with the test sheet serial-numbered to the set.

Shipping, commissioning and support
Step 03

Shipping, commissioning and support

Export packing, documentation and commissioning guidance, with spare-parts supply and remote diagnosis for the life of the installation.

25 MW of standby for a data-centre campus

The project behind the homepage card — what was asked, what we supplied and how it runs today.

The brief

The campus was expanding faster than its original standby provision, and the operator wanted one supplier to take responsibility for the complete generation package rather than co-ordinate several trades on site.

What we supplied

Fourteen containerised sets delivered as one package — fuel day-tanks, exhaust, switchgear and control integrated at the works, and every set run through the 0 to 110 % load-bank sequence with a serial-numbered test sheet before shipment.

On site today

The campus now rides through grid loss without interrupting server load. Commissioning was witnessed by the operator's own engineers before handover.

Medium voltage without a step-up transformer

A colocation operator asked us to put generation directly onto its 10 kV network — what we engineered and what the plant delivers today.

The brief

The colocation operator wanted generation to sit directly on its medium-voltage network. A conventional low-voltage fleet behind a step-up transformer would have added losses, footprint and another failure point.

What we supplied

Three containerised sets built to feed the site network at medium voltage, with the protection and control scheme engineered around the operator's existing distribution philosophy.

On site today

The transformer stage is gone — fewer losses between the set and the load, and a smaller plant footprint inside the compound.
