Both 50 Hz and 60 Hz builds are listed. Model codes carry the standby rating and, where two builds share a rating, a trailing letter.

Hyundai ratings are declared to ISO 8528 at 40 °C with a 1-hour overload allowance on prime builds. Altitude derate begins at 1,000 m for the turbocharged models, at roughly 2 % per 300 m once you are above it.

Sizing a Hyundai set?

Tell us the load profile shape. These engines are happiest between 50 % and 85 % load, and if your site will run below 40 % for long periods we will recommend a smaller rating rather than sell you the bigger set.

Configuration Options

Mid-range, industrial package

These sets sit between the small Japanese platforms and the heavy European engines, and the enclosure reflects that.

Hyundai units are typically built as canopies up to about 500 kVA and as containers above that. The engines are turbocharged and aftercooled, so the canopy needs a larger air intake than the dimensions suggest, and we build the louvre area to the engine's combustion air demand rather than to a standard panel size.

Compare other engine brands

For the same rating with a denser service network, a Cummins QSZ13 or Perkins 1506 set is the usual alternative.

Questions

Hyundai sets, answered plainly

The three things buyers ask us most about this engine platform.

Yes, the D-series engines come from HHI's engine division, which also supplies marine and construction equipment. Generator builds use dedicated ratings.

Typically 10 to 20 % lower on unit price for the same rating, with a narrower service network outside Asia and the Middle East.

Yes, using a standard load-sharing controller. The engine supports droop control, and we supply the wiring diagram for the switchgear.
