Both 50 Hz and 60 Hz builds are listed. Model codes carry the standby rating and, where two builds share a rating, a trailing letter.

SDEC ratings follow ISO 8528 but are declared at a 40 °C ambient reference rather than 25 °C, so the headline kVA is closer to real-site output. Above 1,000 m altitude, expect about 1 % per 100 m on naturally aspirated models.

Give us the destination country as well as the rating. SDEC's advantage is a low-cost parts channel into Asia and Africa, and if your site is outside that corridor the total cost of ownership changes enough that we will say so.

Value engineering, explained

The cost advantage comes from the parts channel, not from cutting the enclosure.

SDEC sets are usually bought on price and then judged on parts availability, so we build them to a specification we are happy to defend. Small 4- and 6-cylinder units go into acoustic canopies for standby work; the D114 six-cylinder and 12-cylinder units at the top of the range ship open or containerised. Controllers are usually Deep Sea or ComAp, which keeps spares local.

SDEC sets, answered plainly

The three things buyers ask us most about this engine platform.

No. SDEC was founded on licensed technology and now develops its own D114 and SC families. The design lineage is documented, and the parts are SDEC-branded.

Typically China Stage II or Tier 3 equivalent for export, with Stage V unavailable on most models. Check your import rules before specifying.

Around 8,000 to 12,000 hours on prime duty with correct fuel and oil. That is shorter than a Cummins QSK, and the price reflects it.
